AAUP National Office Nominations

Dear AAUP Member:

The December 15 deadline for AAUP national office nominations is approaching. Any active AAUP member who receives the endorsements of six active members will be placed on the ballot for election (read more about the nominations process).

The national AAUP is seeking nominees for the following officer positions:

  • President
  • First Vice President
  • Second Vice President
  • Secretary Treasurer

There are also vacancies on the Council, the AAUP’s national governing board, in the following council districts:

I Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah
II Alaska, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin. Wyoming
III Michigan
IV Arkansas, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia
V Alabama, Canada, Florida, Foreign, Georgia, Guam, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, the Virgin Islands, West Virginia
VI Ohio
VII New Jersey
VIII New York
IX Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont
X Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island

There are also three at-large Council positions available.

The national officers and the Council are responsible for overseeing the affairs of the Association, including setting dues, overseeing finances, establishing standing committees, and promoting the exchange of ideas between the membership, the leadership, and the staff. Council generally meets in person twice a year in Washington, D.C.

If you are interested in being considered as a candidate or nominating a candidate, please carefully read all of the information on the Nominations Invited page of the AAUP website. The page describes the requirements and procedure for becoming or nominating an eligible candidate for Council.

The deadline to submit all required materials is Thursday, December 15, 2011.

The AAUP Nominating Committee will issue its report by Tuesday, December 20, 2011; the report will be posted on the AAUP website.
