Register today for the AAUP’s annual governance conference in October. http://www.aaup.org/AAUP/about/events/Gov/default.htm

The conference will take place at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, DC, October 26–28, 2012. In addition to paper presentations and roundtable discussions on all aspects of shared faculty governance, the AAUP conference will once again include a series of training workshops for current and future governance leaders that will be spread out over the three days of the conference. Workshops will include discussions of new AAUP statements on the faculty role in program closures and on the role of contingent faculty in governance, as well as presidential search and evaluation, faculty involvement in budgeting, and the importance of faculty handbooks. Professor George Cohen, chair of the University of Virginia (UVA) Faculty Senate, will deliver a plenary address on Saturday about the lessons to be learned from recent events at UVA.

The early conference registration fee of $300, due by October 5, includes a reception on Friday evening, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and a closing breakfast on Sunday. The late registration fee will be $350. Special room rates of $169 per night will available for conference participants.

A limited number of registration scholarships are available from the AAUP’s Contingent Faculty Fund for faculty holding non-tenure-track appointments. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, e-mail edeutsch-feldman@aaup.org to receive an application.
